or as long as man has walked the Earth, one of the biggest questions that he has ever faced is: Are we alone in the universe?
Opinions on that question have varied from generation to generation, but a recent strange job posting seems to indicate that those in the upper levels of intelligence are trying to give us a hint.
NASA recently announced that they were seeking a “Planetary Protection Officer” and yes, the job is just as cool as it sounds . b>
Unbeknownst to most of us, this wasn’t a newly crafted position and has actually existed for sometime. It was born out of a UN Treaty in 1967 concerning the world’s rush to contact the great unknown . b>
Currently in that seat is a very cool-sounding lady named Catherine Conley who told CNBC, that on her first day at the spacey gig, she was given” a pair of black ray-ban sunglasses .”
If so, well, it’s because it is. This entire notion is taken right from the silver screen( or vice-versa ?). b>
For years we have watched indicates and movies about those whose worn obligation it is to save the world.
Many of them were superheroes, while others wore matching black suits and interacted with adorable pugs on the street of New York.
It might all seem like a joke to many of us, but NASA is taking it very seriously and is investing pretty big bucks in this position . b>
The job description lists the starting salary as starting between $124,406 and $187,000. Not bad compensation for being responsible for all human life.
For some comparison, the President of the United States constructs merely $400,000.
Despite our collective national love for deep space shoot-em-ups, this position isn’t going to be available to everybody . b>
CNBC reported that the “secret” security clearance job is going to require 😛 TAGEND
-A Bachelor’s Degree( check for me !)
-Preferably an advanced degree in engineering, physical science or maths( uh oh) as well as 😛 TAGEND
-2 4 semester hours in physical science and/ or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials or electronics.( ugh)
Well, shoot. I guess I’m out then.
